We ♡ Drugstore Makeup TAG! | TheMakeupDiaries

Hey guys! So today we thought we'd do the drugstore makeup tag created by MakeupByAlli & MakeupbyFran. Oh believe us, we do love us some drugstore makeup! It pretty much started when we started off with makeup at the end of seventh grade and from then on, we still have some Holy Grail products from the good old convenient drugstore. From blushes to concealer to lip glosses, the drugstore has some amazing things (and some products we cannot live without!) in the aisles. We're probably going to keep rambling on and on, so let's get started!

1. What is your favourite drugstore makeup brand overall?

Roshelle: I would definitely have to go with Maybelline. All around, I have the most products from them and they're one of the brands I started off with!

Alyssa: Just like Roshelle, my favourite drugstore makeup brand is Maybelline. Most of my drugstore makeup is from there and I find that all their products are great. Their products are good quality, affordable and have cute packaging.

2. What are your favourite face, cheek, and lip products?

Roshelle: For face, I cannot live without my Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer. I use this to conceal blemishes and for my under eye area as well. For my cheeks, I am obsessed with Milani's baked blush in Luminoso! So beautiful. And for lips, other than my Nivea Kiss of Milk and Honey lip balm and some Vaseline, I do love Revlon's super lustrous lip gloss in Kiss Me Coral.

Alyssa: My favourite drugstore face product would be the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder. This powder is longwearing,  lightweight and helps keep your face matte while still looking natural. My favourite cheek product is the Wet And Wild blush in Pearlescent Pink. It's a warm peachy coral shade with settle shimmers. It really warms up the face for a healthy glow. Now for lip products, I can't live without my Nivea Kiss of Milk and Honey lip balm and my Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait.

3. Least favourite product?

Roshelle: My least favourite product is hands down, the Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream. I was so disappointed! No coverage at all, and the shade selection was terrible. It felt like they just slapped on the name "BB Cream" onto a moisturiser and it did not even out my skin like it claimed it would.

Alyssa: My least favourite product would have to be the Covergirl lipstick Tinted lip balm in Princess. It smelled horrific like chemicals, it wasn't moisterizing and it was not true to colour at all.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?

Roshelle: I would have to say my NYC smooth skin bronzing powder in Sunny. So affordable ($2-3) and a beautiful bronzer! Adds a nice glow to your face without looking muddy.

Alyssa: To me, the best makeup bargain would be any of the elf makeup products. For example, their Studio Powder Brush costs $3 and is similar to brushes from MAC, Sephora and Sigma which you all know are very expensive and sometimes overpriced. This brush is super soft and of course perfect for people looking to find an inexpensive yet good quality brush.

5. What is your favourite underdog product (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)

Roshelle: I absolutely love my Nyx Eyebrow Cake Powder (dark brown/brown: my shade). I know Alyssa got me into this product, and it's one of my favourite products ever! I can't live without it. However, I never really hear too much about it. It doesn't have too much hype built around it through Youtube and on Blogs. But it definitely gets a lot of love from me!

Alyssa: My favourite underdog product has to be the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. This is a two in one product, that is shiny, feels lightweight and is definitely long wearing. I don't hear about this product in Youtube videos that I watch and I just feel like it does indeed get overlooked. It's such a great product ideal for when your on the go when you want something you won't have to keep reapplying throughout the day.

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?

Roshelle: I usually don't buy drugstore products if I think they are overpriced but in general, I think Physicians Formula is pretty pricey for an overall drugstore brand.

Alyssa: I love the brand L'oreal and I'd like to try more products from that brand. When the L'oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation came out in stores I was dying to try it. Up until I saw the price tag. It was $20 for a drugstore foundation and I was really disappointed with how much it cost because I personally wouldn't purchase it for that much.

7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!!

Roshelle: I have three different dupes, call it what you will. I picked the NYC smooth skin bronzing powder in sunny as a dupe for Benefit's hoola bronzer. I also picked my Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner and picked it as a dupe for the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. Lastly, one of the closest dupes, my beloved Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Nude is very similar to the Tarte Inner Rim Eyeliner in nude.

Alyssa: I will also share three dupes. First the Elf Contouring blush and bronzer and the Nars Orgasm and Laguna duo. The second dupe is Revlon's black cherry lipstick for the MAC Lipstick in Diva.  The last dupe also has to do with lip products and it's Milani's Rose Hip Lipstick as a dupe for MAC's notorious Candy Yum Yum.

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?

Roshelle: These really aren't hyped up as much as they used to be but definitely the Maybelline Bouncy Blushes. Everyone in the youtube community seemed estatic about them, but when I picked it up in the shade Pink Plum, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be.

Alyssa: The drugstore product that I don't think is worth the hype would be the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. This mascara is okay but I find that there are better mascara's out there. This mascara doesn't make a huge difference on my lashes as I would like but I know everyone has their own opinion on this product.

So that's our drugstore tag, we hoped you guys enjoyed this tag, and leave a comment down below suggesting some other blog posts you would like to see!

Sweater Weather tag! | TheMakeupDiaries

Hey everyone! Today we're going to be doing the Sweater Weather Tag in honour of the cold days we've been receiving lately here where we live. We both love autumn and everything about it. So without further ado, let's get started!

1. Favourite Candle Scent?

Roshelle: I absolutely love Marshmallow Fireside from Bath & Body Works. It smells amazing! This is pretty weird but I would describe it as a very warm and cozy scent perfect for a night in.

Alyssa: I'd have to say Red Velvet by Bath and Body Works. It smells to die for!

2. Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?

Alyssa: It depends, but when I'm tired Coffee for sure. But when I need relaxing, tea. When I'm in a good mood or am craving something sweet especially during the holidays, I will always pick hot chocolate!

Roshelle: Hot chocolate for sure!!!!! I like to add a bit of hazelnut sweetener into my hot chocolate and I have that every morning to wake me up.  I love anything sweet, and coffee and tea just don't tickle my fancy as well as hot chocolate does.

3. What's the best fall memory you have?

Roshelle: I have a terrible memory but if I had to pick one it would have to be Thanksgiving. I love spending time with my family and my extended family and all that thanksgiving food!

Alyssa: The best fall memory I have isn't extremely interesting but it's one of the little things you will never forget. My best fall memory that I can remember would be playing with the gorgeous coloured leaves outside with my family and drinking a nice warm cup of hot chocolate afterwards.

4. Which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner?

Roshelle: Personally, I'm pretty scared to wear a bold lip out so I'll have to go with winged eyeliner! I try and go with a thin line on my upper lashline, nothing too bold and something that still looks natural.

Alyssa: To me, both dark lips and winged eyeliner are a staple in all makeup looks. But, I personally prefer dark lips over winged eyeliner for many reasons. Dark lips are bold, dramatic and intense. In my opinion a dark lips brings a whole makeup look together and will turn heads everywhere you go. I especially like this during the fall and winter months.

5. Best fragrance for fall?

Roshelle: I love anything that smells like Vanilla for fall. In particular, I really like Noir Tease by Victoria Secret or for a lighter scent, I go for Pink's Warm and Cozy.

Alyssa: Just like Roshelle, I also enjoy anything that smells like vanilla. During the fall time I like scents that are very sweet. Two of my favourites are from Bath & Body Works. They include Sweet on Paris and Warm Vanilla Sugar. Two popular and affordable fragrances!

6. Favourite Thanksgiving food?

Roshelle: Ahh this is so difficult! Definitely turkey with mashed potatoes, and corn. So delicious!

Alyssa: This is a such a hard question. For sure I'd have to say turkey and mashed potatoes.

7. What is autumn weather like where you live?

Roshelle: Alyssa and I both live in the same place and it's quite a drastic change from summer to fall. It rains pretty much everyday and it usually is 0-10 degrees Celsius. It gets pretty cold and at the end of fall, if we're lucky enough, it starts to snow!

8. Most worn sweater?

Roshelle: Other than wearing uniform everyday, I'm pretty much always wearing a big comfy sweater. It's pretty much impossible to choose one but I love all my Forever 21/H&M Knit sweaters. Anything comfy is perfect!

Alyssa: Roshelle and I both go to private school which means we have to wear uniform everyday. Most of the sweaters you would find me in are from Forever 21, H&M and Brandy Melville.

9. Must-have nail polish this fall?

Alyssa: Since I have a huge nail polish collection it's quite hard to narrow it down to just one fall must have nail polish. So, I will share two of my favourites from OPI. The first one is Tomorrow Never Dies from the James Bond Collection. I would describe this colour as a deep, dark glowy blue with purple shimmer and reflexes. The second polish is also by OPI and it is called DS Reflection from the Designer Series Collection. I would describe this as a red coral toned colour with some shimmer and duo-chrome. Both of these colours are perfect for the fall and I get a lot of use out of
them.

Roshelle: Because of all the sports I play, I'm often sporting the no nail polish look (aka bare nails!) because I learned that their going to chip anyway so I justified just not wearing nail polish. On the other hand, I'm a big fan of dark nails like maroon, emerald green, royal blue and a matte black!

10. Football games of jumping in leaf piles?

Roshelle: Definitely watching football games! Although I don't have football at my school, sporting events are just so much fun to be at!

Alyssa: I wouldn't mind jumping into a pile of colourful leaves but I think I would enjoy watching a football game more. I've never actually watched a football game before but I would like too. It seems very interesting and fun to watch.

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?

Alyssa: I am always in leggings. They are so comfortable and they go will all my outfits. So I would say leggings. But, I absolutely love Topshop's Joni Jeans. I own a pair and want to purchase them in more colours.

Roshelle: Leggings! I'm always wearing a comfy sweater and some leggings during the fall. Leggings are just so much more comfier and easy to wear!

12. Combat Boots or Uggs?

Alyssa: Without a doubt I choose combat boots. Combat boots are very trendy and go with many different looks. I find they look good with so many things and I love them so much. I wear mine almost everyday and I just can't get enough of them!

Roshelle: Hands down, combat boots. I own the Steve Madden Troopa boots in black and they are really easy to just slip on, and their quite comfy as well. I find them more stylish then Uggs because you look more put together when wearing combat boots.

13. Is Pumpkin Spice worth the hype?

Roshelle: I wouldn't know for sure because my favourite drink and pretty much the only drink I ever get at Starbucks is the Caramel brûlée latte!

Alyssa: I've only tried this once or twice and I think it is pretty good although I don't normally reach towards that drink.

14. Favourite fall TV show?

Roshelle: Because I'm so busy all the time with school, sports, friends and family I rarely ever get any time to watch tv. But.. Does Sportcenter/Hockey count?

Alyssa: I'm not really up to date with TV shows and I normally just watch online. My favourites include Once Upon A Time, Pretty Little Liars and The Voice.

15. What song really gets you into the Fall spirit?

Roshelle: Tough one. I can't choose. The songs I listen to always change and it all depends! Lol!

Alyssa: I can't think of just one, the songs I like change very often! To be honest, I don't actually know which one gets me into the fall spirit:P

Introducing us ♡

Hiii guys! This is Roshelle and Alyssa here. We just wanted to give you a warm and friendly hello to our blog. We're just ordinary 14 year old girls living in the beautiful (but cold!) country we like to call Canada! We're pretty shy girls, so we thought blogging would be a perfect way to express how much we love makeup and clothes! We created this blog because we intended to share our love for makeup and fashion through blogging. This blog is going to be a fun mixture of hauls (a fair warning: we LOVE to shop!), tags, outfits for certain occasions or just simply an outfit of the day, reviews on products we have tried, and monthly favourites. Although we live pretty busy lives as students along with other things we are committed too, we will try and post as regularly and frequently as we can. We hope you enjoy our posts and we encourage you to comment on your thoughts as well. We created this to help out and inspire others. Just remember that we aren't taking this seriously and this all just for plain fun! We know that we might get judged and even made fun of for this, but what's wrong with doing what you love? Always follow your dreams and have fun doing what you love! We're young teen girls just trying to express our love for the beauty and fashion aspect of life. Anyways, we have a lot of really amazing things planned out coming your way so stay tuned and we hope your having a day full of love and smiles ♡
