Everyday School Makeup! Quick, easy & drugstore! | TheMakeupDiaries

Hi everyone! So we know that school is coming up (boo) and for many of us including ourselves, we have to quicken and lessen the makeup (most of us.. not all of us!) because sometimes we'd rather just take the extra five minutes of sleep rather than perfecting our winged out liner. Today we'll be showing you tips and tricks and also our everyday school makeup! I also tried to keep all the products drugstore for students who are on a budget!

Before you read on: I didn't actually apply any makeup throughout the tutorial as I was going naked face that day! And of course my skin isn't that clear or nice without makeup but I felt I needed to take a break today. But you get the idea haha

  • Skip the foundation. Especially if your skin is looking pretty clear, we would go on straight to concealer. However, like myself, I need a bit of coverage as my skin is discoloured. I go for a very very very light coverage and easy to apply one- Maybelline's Dream Liquid Touch foundation. It's a good choice because it sets to a semi matte, powder finish. If you're really in a hurry, you can skip powder because the foundation ends up setting itself.

  • Conceal your under eyes. Use any brightening concealer, one or two shades lighter than your natural skin tone or go for a more salmon-toned concealer to correct the blue/purple tones of your under eyes. We recommend getting a light concealer, that isn't cakey or will crease during the day. Quickly make sure you set your under eyes because under eye concealer tends to move around (as you rub your tired eyes) during the day.

  • We would say skip the bronzer, but I personally love bronzer. Do whatever makes you happy. I likle to define my cheeks a little bit to add some definition to my face.

  • Go for a light pink, coral or peachy blush to give your face some colour. It will really make you look more fresh and awake.

  • We know filling in your eyebrows can take a while so why not just grab a tinted brow gel that will fill in the sparse areas for you?!

  • Eye makeup is really tricky as it is all personal preference.. personally, I like to skip all eye makeup but if I need some definition in my eyes to look a little bit more put together, I take a matte creamy shade and place that on the lid. Then a soft brown and blend that into the crease. Blending is essential. Then if more definition is needed, I drag a brown shadow on my waterline. I personally find eyeshadow is more quick than applying mascara and curling your lashes and waiting for it to dry (especially cause my lashes are so small.. I don't even bother) and liquid liner takes a lot of patience and precision for me so I tend to skip it. But whatever you feel comfortable doing is what you should stick too, I change it up all the time! I usually pick one out of the 3, just so I look somewhat pulled together.

  • Then I apply some tinted lip balm or a regular lip balm like Dior's Creme De Rose or Nyx's lip butters and head out the door!

This makeup look usually takes me about 5-10 minutes. Of course, you can leave out some parts or add some parts, it's all up to you! What I recommend is getting an even complexion, hiding the under eye bags, giving yourself some colour, and defining your eyes a little bit. You don't need to go all out because it's just school, but you can play around with your favourite features of your face and see what works best for you in the time that you have. Good luck ladies!

Hi everyone! So since Fall is coming up, I decided to do another beauty wish list. As you can probably tell, my makeup choices are definitely more bronzey/glowy with the Shimmer Brick and MJ Bronzer, a lightweight bb cream, a light featherweight powder, with a matte brown eyeshadow in the crease and dark vampy lips using the YSL Lipsticks. I love using natural products, so the eyeliner & eyebrow definer works out amazingly (very convenient, compact and very very travel friendly!). The Camomile Cleansing Oil will be great for removing makeup gently while leaving your skin feeling amazing, and the Vitamin C face Spritz will be so refreshing while giving my skin some natural radiance as it glows from within while keeping my face rejuvenated and keeping my makeup looking fresh and dewy!

I hope you guys enjoyed this quick post, and I hope you have a lovely rest of the summer! Whether you're going back to school or work in a bit, hopefully these next few weeks won't pass too quickly and make sure you rest up because you deserve it!

Love always,
Roshelle

Go to complete look for summer! | TheMakeupDiaries

Hi guys! So today I'm going to be showing you my go to makeup look for the summer. My makeup definitely changes because of how hot it gets during these months and also, I go for a more glowy, and natural look and less is definitely more in the summer! Keep in mind that this isn't my EVERYDAY makeup for summer, this is my go to look when I want to look pulled together, just summer edition! I still wear quite a bit of makeup because unlike during school I have time to work on my face a little more and experiment a little bit but I try to wear not too much as I sweat off my make up super easily. Sorry we haven't been posting lately.. I've been experiencing writers block so if you have any suggestions for some posts, we would love to hear it (sauce us a comment or an email! We love hearing from you guys.) I tried to make this post as detailed as possible, as we're trying to pick up on our tutorials and the quality of our blog posts, over quantity. We also have something VERY EXCITING planned within the upcoming week so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that!

Now onto the tutorial!

First, I primed my face with Maybelline's baby skin. This isn't marketed as a primer, but I use it to blur my pores. It also acts as a good base for my foundation as it smooths out my skin just like a baby!

I then go in with a light, glowy foundation. I opt for a lighter coverage with Maybelline's Dream Wonder Liquid Touch as it is a very light foundation with light coverage allowing my skin to breathe. It dries to a matte/powder finish (I have a full review here) so by using this foundation, you already use less product as you don't need to powder anymore. If I need a little more coverage, I love my Nars Sheer Glow, especially during this time of the month, I love the beautiful natural radiance it gives, and the glow from within (not obnoxiously dewy at all!)

I conceal my under eye circles with Maybelline's fit me concealer. This is a really thin, watery concealer that looks lovely under the eyes. We want a nice brightened under eye area, as it makes you look well rested, and fresh.

Set your face with a setting powder. T-zone is a must, and any areas you need to set.

I would start filling in my eye brows just to frame my face. I decided to go with the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder, as it's super easy to work with and powders stay longer on my brows. Then I start setting my brows and fill in the remaining sparse areas with my Benefit Gimme Brow.

I prime my eyelids to ensure that my eyeshadow sticks and lasts all day. I used the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion.

For eyeshadow, I like to use one of my new favourites! It's one eye shadow but it makes it look like you've spent a lot of time on your eyeshadow when really it's just one eye shadow! I used L'oreal's infallible eyeshadow in Amber Rush (which is SO stunning!) You can just pack this onto the lid dry for a subtle look but if you want to amp it up, definitely wet your brush and apply it onto the lids wet. This shadow is stunning! Usually, for day to day, I usually stick to this single eye shadow. However, if you want to amp it up, go for a soft brown like faint from the Naked basics and just blend that into the crease. I took W.O.S from the Naked basics and highlighted my brow bone and inner corners with it.

I used a nude eyeliner from Rimmel (their scandaleyes kohl kajal ones) to make sure my eyes look wide awake. I layered my mascaras today (as per usual). I used Maybelline's The Falsies (waterproof version) first then topped it off with L'oreal's Miss Manga Voluminous mascara for extra volume and impact. If you're willing to go the extra mile, add some black liquid liner. Wing it out for an extra pop. Then on the bottom lash line, drag L'oreal's Amber Rush with a pencil brush. Add mascara to your lower lashes.

Now that you know how dramatic your eyes are looking, you can do your blush and bronzer accordingly. What that means is if your eyes are looking a little more dramatic than usual, you want to tone down your cheeks, and vice versa. I'm not used to wearing so much eye makeup so I go for a more natural cheek.

I try and contour my cheeks a little bit just to define my cheekbones a little bit more and I use the Body Shop's honey bronzer in 03 medium matte, with an eco tools tapered blush brush. Although this brush isn't meant for bronzer, because it's tapered, it fits really well underneath the hollows of my cheeks.

For blush, I like to keep it simple. In the summer, Milani's baked blush in luminoso is just so flattering and gorgeous and is like a subtle highlight and a blush in one. It's the perfect peachy pink shade, perfect for everyday. I use a fluffy Real Techniques blush brush for this.

For lips, it's all up to you whatever you feel comfortable in! I would usually go for something like Nyx's Apple Strudel, Nyx's beige, Revlon's kiss me coral, Mac's impressive/mystical/see sheer. Nothing to outrageous or obnoxious, something that will give your lips a hint of pink or coral. I went for Nyx's Apple Strudel today.

Of course, you don't have to follow these step by step. Makeup is all personal which is why it's so fun, so don't be afraid to switch up different products or skip steps if you want. It's all about what you feel comfortable in!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and it helped you!!! I tried doing my makeup and snapping little photos in between to show you what I was doing. Hopefully it's easy to understand! :) x

If you have any questions, thoughts, posts that you want to see then just shoot us a comment or an email! We'd love to do whatever we can for you guys! Hopefully this post makes up for the lack of posts but stick by until the end of the week because Alyssa and I have something super exciting for you!

Hopefully everyone is enjoying their summer so far. Much love xoxo
Questions:

 b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward or
 c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which 'do it all' palette do you pack in your makeup bag?

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you

a) Just pretend you haven't noticed

c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs

Answers:

1)
Roshelle: I would definitely keep Nars Sheer Glow as my high end foundation and my L'oreal Tru Match Lumi foundation as my drugstore foundation.
Alyssa: This might be a surprise but I don't really own any foundations. I only have one from Covergirl. But if I did have drugstore and high end foundations, I would keep the Loreal Tru Match Lumi Foundation (drugstore) and the Makeup Forever HD Foundation (high end).

2)
Roshelle: I think it completely depends on the type of interview! If it's a formal interview, and the lady seems like she has no sense of humour, just don't bring it up and pretend you didn't notice it, but if she seems down to earth, and seems to not take anything too seriously, I would probably shyly tell her, so she won't think that I'm not honest and won't hire me.
Alyssa: In this situation I would ignore it completely. I don't want her to be embarrassed and it might make things awkward. This is funny because just last week I was at Nordstrom and a lady working there was talking to me and had lipstick on her teeth HAHA I obviously didn't say anything though.

3)

Roshelle: I usually don't wear lipstick but if I need a pick me up, I will most probably always go with Mac's Impressive because it's a my lips but better (mlbb) lipstick!
Alyssa: I have accumulated many lipsticks and if I ever wanted to feel fancy, beautiful and glamorous, I would use my YSL Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick in 29 Opera Rose.

4)

Roshelle: Well, I'm still in my teenage years, but a year or two ago, I would wear really weird makeup and clumpy mascara. I would also wear foundations that casted a white cast on me. Also, I would rather enjoy having such clear skin, and enjoy not having to cover too much up!
Alyssa: I am still in my teenage years myself but if I was able to go back in time to a few years ago,  I would take advantage of my clear skin and definitely groom my eyebrows.

5)

Roshelle: I'm a really shy person, so I would have to go with A. This is pretty funny because I had a similar incident about a year or two ago, and I was tearing as I was leaving the salon as the hairdresser cut 4 inches off instead of 2, which I asked for. I was pretty pissed and one of my best friends was in the back of my car as we drove home with my arms crossed all pissed off, and she was laughing. I'll always remember that.
Alyssa: I am also a shy person to begin with but I am also super sensitive. Knowing me I would probably cry so I would have to go with B.

6)
Roshelle: For sure the UD Naked basics Palette or the UD Naked 1 Palette. But if it all came down, for the basic necessities of life, I would probably go with my Naked basics palette because it has all the colours I'd ever need.
Alyssa: Without a doubt, I would bring my Urban Decay Naked Palette. The variety of colours and finishes are fantastic and I can create a ton of different and unique eye looks just using that one palette.

7)

Roshelle: I'm pretty sure makeup is the last thing a thief would steal but I would hope that my HG products were left untouched, like my favourite foundations/blushes/eyeshadows.
Alyssa: I wouldn't want any of my makeup stolen in the first place. I would literally be devastated. If only one product could be safe I would hope it was my Urban Decay Naked Palette or my lipstick collection. That's not one product but I can't stand the thought of my makeup collection being raided... lol

8)

Roshelle: I would probably go with A. I would just pretend I didn't notice because I know for a fact that none of my friends would ever purposely do something like that, or else they wouldn't be my friend haha. And C is just horrible! That would not be a good thing as a friend to do. So yeah, I'd probably just pretend i didn't notice. But if they asked to borrow something again in the future, I'd just ask them to take good care of it!
Alyssa: I would go with A as well. If it was in horrible condition I would be upset but I could just easily buy a new one. Honestly if that ever happened, I would just let them keep the product.
