Taking Care Of Yourself | TheMakeupDiaries

Hi everyone! So today I thought I would do more of a personal post. I thought I'd do one of these because I feel a little disconnected from all of you, and what would be a better way then to talk to you about something incredibly important to myself?
As a disclaimer.. in no way, shape or form am I an expert on giving advice. Consult a therapist or someone you trust. Don't be afraid to talk to someone or speak out. Speaking out is the first step to recovery.
Now onto the topic of taking care of yourself..
Your physical and mental health are so important. How can you expect someone to love you if you don't even love yourself? It's so easy to feel insignificant in such a vast world. As of late, I knew I wasn't feeling 100% myself. First of all, it's okay not to feel okay. Don't blame yourself for things out of your control. Although I'm not ready to openly speak about my personal problems, I can tell you I've been through a lot. How I display myself to the world is definitely not the same as how I feel inside. For a long time, I blamed myself.. thought I was in some funk... and convinced myself that I was fine. But I wasn't. I was unhappy.. and I was filled with nothing but negative energy. Now I'm telling you all this not for pity from all of you but to tell you that life gets better. If you told me that 2 months ago, or even a couple weeks ago, I would've thought you were just saying that because you didn't have anything else to say or you knew nothing could be done about it. But I'm here to tell you that it's true. Although, life isn't perfect, and I still don't have perfect days, life is all about standing up after falling and scratching your knees and having the strength and courage to  move forward. Failing is OKAY. It's part of life.. some of the greatest well known human beings on this planet have failed. Failing means you're trying. Smile! You have fought, cried, laughed and battled your way to get to where you are right now. Reading this. Take a deep breath and smile. Life really isn't that serious, we just make it hard. As Arian Foster once said, "The sun rises. The sun sets. We just tend to complicate the process." With so much happening in our busy daily lives, we tend to forget how beautiful and precious life is. We have so much to smile about. Remember, your mental health is equally as important as your physical health. You failed that test or didn't get the mark you were hoping for? Marks aren't everything.. you need to fail in order to learn and succeed. You aren't as pretty as that girl on instagram? Why are you putting your entire worth on your outward appearance? Why do likes and comments on instagram photos define who you are? Why are you putting your self-esteem in the hands of complete strangers? Weight, gpa, likes.. they're all numbers. If you're happy with who you are and you learn to love and accept yourself and your flaws, no one can use it against you. Stay away from people who make you feel worthless. Don't let anyone invalidate your feelings. I learned this one the hard way, but believe me when I say that some people are just not meant to be in your life. People come and go and that's OKAY. Especially in high school, you'll realize that you were only friends with people because you saw them 5 days a week. Real friends stay. People will leave but that doesn't mean it's your fault. Don't ever feel bad for saying no. You are allowed to say no. You don't have to do what everyone else is doing. One day you'll wake up and be glad you did. Growing up means being honest. About what you want, what you need, what you feel, and who you are. Just remember bad stuff happens. No one lives a perfect life. Don't feel the need to compare yourself to anyone else. The only person you should be trying to be better than was the person you were yesterday. Life is all about getting up, moving on, and appreciating everything around you while you can. Sure, life isn't always perfect but taking care of yourself is so important.. and I don't say that lightly. There's so much more to life than having a bad day. Life will get better. Life's funny like that, just remember you are where you're meant to be and life puts events/people in your life at a specific time for a reason. So if you're stressed, take a step back, take a deep breath and learn to take care of yourself first. Do whatever makes you happy (no matter what people think), surround yourself with supportive people, understand your flaws and accept them, and just breathe. You'll begin to notice you radiate and glow when you're happy with yourself. The world is yours.
