Maybelline Dream Wonder Liquid Foundation First Impression/Review |TheMakeupDiaries

Hey guys! So I recently went to the drugstore.. read my Mini drugstore haul here. Anyways, on the new display, I saw the new Maybelline Dream Wonder foundation on display at Walmart for a little over $12, which is pricey but well expected as it is a new release. As I said in the earlier post, I think that it's Maybelline's reponse to the very popular L'oreal Magic Nude Liquid powder. The product has less than a fluid once as it has 20 ml not like the usual 30 ml, so you are paying for less product. I first saw this product on CoffeeBreakwithDani, and she seemed to like this foundation but it wasn't her favourite.

QUICK FACTS

  • Retails for about $12-13 (depends where you get it)
  • 12 shades in the range (not too sure on this.. i'll definitely double check!)
  • Comes in a glass bottle with a dropper-like applicator
  • 20 ML

First Impression

First applied: 12:30 (pm)- yay for the right shade!! It's always antsy when your unsure at the drugstore. I used about 3 globs of foundation to cover my entire face. I didn't know how I wanted to apply it so I went with the Real Techniques expert face brush. It looked good, dried to a powder Demi matte finish which is something I'm not used to cause I tend to go for dewy foundations like Nars sheer glow or l'oreal tru match lumi. However I am enjoying this foundation as it seems like it's going to be a good summer foundation. I did notice that on dried up pimples it did create a little bit of a dry ring, however the foundation felt lightweight. I noticed that it has an odd smell... of sunscreen and alcohol but it does not transfer onto your face when you apply it. Phew!

3:03- I can see the foundation sitting on top of my skin really well. For how how and humid it is, it's holding up fairly well. I'm tempted to powder but I don't think it's mandatory yet as it looks like I have a slight dewy ness on my skin while still looking Demi matte. Blush and bronzer is still in tact. Will check back later.

7:31- the foundation is still sitting on my skin fairly well. My blush and bronzer is still visible, however, where my blemishes are, my concealer have seemed to fade, and they are peeping through the foundation. I've been wearing this for 6 hours, and since it's such a lightweight foundation I do expect the fading. However, amidst the hot, humid (and rare) weather, i'm actually impressed. All I did today was go to a friends' house, and other than I've just been reading outdoors and soaking up the sun. This foundation is very light while still providing light to medium coverage. I wouldn't say this is taking my l'oreal tru match lumi's place as my HG though...

11:45- end of the night. The foundation has faded on some parts of my face (especially where my blemishes are.. I can't help but touch them sometimes) however where it did stay (my forehead mainly) it looked like it was sitting on it decently. Obviously I've been wearing this foundation for a really long time, plus it's a lightweight foundation makes it understandable that it did fade. This isn't a new favourite but I'm going to continue wearing this as my everyday foundation because it's so lightweight (you can barely feel it). I recommend this for someone who needs a light-medium coverage foundation. When applied it does feel a little cakey, but overtime it starts to feel "friendly" towards the skin and really blend in with the oils of your skin to make your skin look like it has more of an even texture.
